In order to
maintain the beauty of hand-made ceramic products we still create each piece
according to traditional methods.
The mould
method: hand-working of red fire-proof clay which is divided into
layers of required thickness. The
layers are hand-pressed in plaster casts, moulded and then finished with a
sponging-over process.
Before
finishing off it is possible to apply a base to plates and trays.
After clay
first slowly hardens, the layers are removed from the moulds, finished and
completely dried. Afterwards, they are baked at 990°C. Through the mould
process we do create small plates with 9 cm diameter (3-4 in.), tiles, trays
and bowls with different shapes, cookies potteries and oval cachepots.
The Potter’s
wheel: this is a further old traditional mould method. Nowadays the wheel is
activated by a motor, though the creation of smart products still depends on
the craftsman’s skills who can carry out small cruet-stands for salt, pepper
and oil, jugs, boles, vases, pots or typical Tuscany’s jars 70 cm high.
After
the clay piece has been baked (at 990°C baking), it is lacquered by
dying and so the decoration
process gets started: the pattern. .
The
pattern is a completely free-hand drawing and this feature highly
increases the value and the uniqueness of each hand-made product.
The
colour on our ceramics plays a very important role, since colour
represents life, light, warmth, nature. It is also feeling and
passion such as those that we have for our research works for new
harmonious decorations.
Most
of our decorations are real glaze
paintings.
That’s the reason why each piece is unique and different from another
and it conveys the emotions of the artist who creates it.
Attention is carefully paid to every detail in the bigger creations as
well as in the smaller-size ones. We want to maintain and reproduce
the relationship between nature and materials so to remind You of the
sunny bright Mediterranean colours through a perfect harmony of
yellow, green, red and blue, yet keeping a personal chromatic mark.
